In residence at Monflanquin, Suzanne Husky became interested in primitive huts with visual artist developed by a marginal population and resistant to contemporary lifestyles.
Craft, made from recycled materials, they echo the plastic productions and social and political commitments found in the artistic field.
Experienced and lived as a means of returning to a natural life, these structures result in their voluntary simplicity, a philosophy of “erasing” which seeks to minimize the human footprint on the environment.
Very clever, these “Henry Thoreau” and “Robinson Crusoe” replace the comfort of standardized household inventions surprising modest and effective: as underground refrigerator, cooking emissions, the wheelchair and, of course, toilets.
Thoreau, American philosopher who built and lived in a cabin rudimentary, elaborated on the spiritual benefits of living easier. There’s four precise necessities (food, shelter, clothing and fuel).
